Your Story Matters.

Dorcey

What is your name and cultural background?

Dorcey Rutter and I am originally from Manchester in the UK; however, I have been in Sydney since 2010.
What does home mean to you?
A safe space. It’s my sanctuary and the place where I can express a part who I am through interior design.

How has your pregnancy journey been?

This is my second and it has been very different than my first, in comparison I am gliding

through this, aside from sickness in the first few weeks, I would say it’s been rather splendid.

What is one thing you have learnt since growing a baby?

To fully embrace my changing body, I am genuinely in awe of what we go through during this time as women.

What do you do to feel renewed?

Meditate and stretch, I love listening to binaural beats. I also make time every Sunday to do some pampering at home.

What is something from your childhood that you will bring into your child’s?

Fun, adventure, and implementing traditions and rituals. Some of my fondest memories are those that were traditions, such as Sunday lunch at my Nanas with all the family.

When do you feel most like yourself?

During pregnancy, I would say after rest, whether that be a good night sleep or having a little cat nap.

Your favourite skincare ritual…

Oooo, I love any form of pampering. I enjoy a Sunday facemask, exfoliate and smothering myself in yummy products.

Why do you choose organic?

I choose organic because I believe my body and mind deserves to be taken care of and in return my body takes care of me.

Your favourite scent, sound, taste….

Woody and spicy has to be my fave scent, it makes the hairs on my body stand up. I was raised on Motown, northern soul and jazz, so it would have to be that genre of music. In terms of food… pasta and prawns.

What is something you want to move past?

Control, more so in terms of having an immaculate home and everything in my life so organised. It has its benefits; however, it can be exhausting. I am certainly working on it.

What are you most excited about?

I am excited for our daughter Olive who is almost 2 years old to have a baby brother. She is very sassy and loving, although who knows how the first few weeks will go.

And most grateful for?

As cheesy as this sounds, my partner Ben. He is my best mate, and we have a lot of fun

parenting together.

What is the best pregnancy advice you have received?

Don’t compare yourself to others, every parent and child is different. Also, no postpartum journey is the same, so let your healing happen without rushing or judgment.

How I feel about child birth in 3 words…
